Backlist Readathon TBR

Hey everyone! Here today to bring you a readathon TBR. The Backlist Readathon starts today (3/9/2020) and ends Sunday 3/15/2020. It is hosted by a group of people over on booktube, and I will link one of their announcement videos here. There are six prompts to go along with this readathon, and their definition of backlist is anything published pre-2020. So what am I going to be reading? Let’s find out!

Read your shortest backlist title

Coming in at 247 pages!

Read a book on your backlist that intimidates you the most

Not necessarily the length of it. It intimidates me because I loved A Court of Mist and Fury so much, and I’m worried of how much I will like this

Read a backlist you added as a recommendation from someone else

The whole series was a recommendation from booktube lol

Read a backlist you are most excited for

I’m so excited to get back to Gatlin and of course I will have the audiobook as well because they are amazing 💚

Read a diverse backlist title

SnowBaz 💛

Read a backlist with blue on the cover

All that pretty blue around my boys 😊

Are you participating in this? If so, what are you reading? If not, wish me luck especially with two thick books I’m attempting to read this week.

Happy reading 💚

Contemporary-a-thon TBR

Hey everyone! I’m here today to talk about my TBR for Contemporary-a-thon round 6. It takes place February 10-16, 2020. This is my first time participating in it, and I’m actually doing it through an online book club I’m a member of. Let’s get to the challenges and see what books I’m reading for them!

Read a contemporary book with green on the cover

My edition of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is completely green lol even has green sprayed edges

Read a contemporary book by a new-to-you author

I’ve heard great things about this book and this author so I’m excited to try it for myself

Read a diverse contemporary book (keeping in mind that it is Black History Month)

Read a backlist contemporary book (something that has been on your TBR for over a year)

This makes a year on my TBR in April, plus I don’t really read contemporary (trying to branch out) so this is my selection

Read a dark/hard-hitting contemporary

I don’t have a book for this prompt

Read a contemporary book with an illustrated cover

Both Fangirl and Get a Life, Chloe Brown have illustrated covers

Read a contemporary book that is beloved by a member of the book community and shout them out

I know Fangirl is one of Gabby from gabbyreads favorite books so this a shout-out to her 💚

Are any of you participating? If so, what are you reading? If you’re not participating, I hope you’ve been having a great reading month. I’ve only read one book so far and it was a novella, but i miss reading so I will get back to it! Happy reading everyone 💚

My To Be Continued Readathon TBR

Hey everyone! Today I’m bringing you my first readathon tbr of the year. This is one of three I’m doing in February lol luckily for me two of those are monthly readathons.

The first one I’m going to talk about is the To Be Continued Readathon hosted by a few people over on twitter and discord. This readathon is all about continuing on with series, and as you all know, I love my series. So this is perfect for me. There are 7 levels in total, but you don’t have to try and reach all 7. However, you do have to finish one level before moving onto the next. So let’s get into the prompts and my selected books!

Level 1: Stand Alone

Top of the TBR Pile: Book you’re most excited to get to – Beautiful Darkness

The Journey: Middle of a series – Order of the Phoenix

The Grand Finale: Read the finale of a series – here is where I chose to use the one wild card we get to replace a prompt with any book we want. I just haven’t chosen that book yet.

Level 2: Sequel

Read the book: Adaptation/Adapted – Allegiant

This Just In: New Release that is a sequel/continuation – One of Us is Next

Level 3: Trilogy

Catch-Up: Popular Series – Strange the Dreamer

Hiatus: Uncompleted work as of yet – Wayward Son

Level 4: Arc

Tangent: Companion Novel, Parallel World, or Prequel – Four

Welcome Home: Re-read – Untamed

Level 5: Series

I Like Them, Another: Favorite Author – A World Without Princes

Take as Old as Time: Oldest Publication Date (for this I chose the oldest between three sequels) – Clockwork Prince

Level 6: Saga

Hipster: Hidden Gem – Another Jekyll, Another Hyde

Procrastination: On TBR the longest, intimidating, or putting off – The Two Towers

Level 7: Master of the TBR

I Bet You Thought You’d Seen the Last of Me: previously completed series – A Court of Wings and Ruin

Second Chance: Sequel is better (where you’ve heard the sequel/series gets better past the first book) – Kiss of Deception

My goal is to at least make it to level 4 or 5. If I do that, I will call this readathon a success 💚

Triwizard Tournament readathon

Hello! Today I am bringing you a readathon I have been looking forward to. It is called the Triwizard Tournament readathon. All the information is explained better here, but the readathon is broken into 3 weeklong readathons based on the three tasks involved with the tournament. Your birthday decides what school you are representing, and according to mine I’m representing Durmstrang.

The first task runs from Monday November 11- Sunday November 17. The opening ceremony was on Halloween, and each school found out what dragon we would be facing in the first task. Durmstrang got the Swedish Short Snout so our task is to reread a favorite. I am going with Unhinged by A. G. Howard. Trying to get my Splintered series reread done before the end of the year.

Our second challenge for this first task is to select a method of defeating the dragon. We have: Conjunctivitis Curse, Bewitched Sleep, Speed, and Distraction. I chose Distraction and for that I have a to read a book with an animal on the cover. What better choice than Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Illustrated Edition by J. K. Rowling. The cover shows Harry facing off with his chosen dragon. If I have time, I will also try to complete Bewitched Sleep and that is to read a whole book in bed. For that I have Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Callender.

I will post my reading options for other tasks and events closer to the date they start. Are you thinking of joining in? Have you already put your name in the Goblet of Fire? If so let me know! Have a great day everyone 💚

Bookeymanathon #TeamHorde🧟‍♀️

Back again with another readathon TBR. This is one is called Bookeymanathon and it is hosted by BooksintheSkye and thebookishchick on Twitter. The Bookeyman is out to take all our books away!! In order to stop this, you join a team to defeat him and save the books. The teams are: Team Clan (Vampire), Team Pack (Werewolf), Team Horde (Zombie), Team Mash (Monster), and Team Coven (Witch). I have chosen Team Horde and my TBR is as follows:

Group book: Misery

Team book: Warm Bodies

Prompt 1: Romance is not dead- Read a book that has romance Of Fire and Stars

Prompt 2: Your eyes are rotting too quickly- listen to an audiobook OR read a book with a brown cover Splintered

Prompt 3: You need to communicate, but can’t talk, so you draw it out instead- Read a book with illustrations Fence vol 3

Memory Loss Challenge: Since your brain is rotting you have a hard time remembering what you are reading. Annotate while reading a book Clockwork Angel

Supernatural A Thon

Hey there everyone. Today I’m bringing you my Supernatural a thon TBR. I couldn’t let this go by as Supernatural is one of my all time favorite shows and I’m said it’s on its final season. Definitely will marathon it at some point.

This readathon was created by Steph Loves (announcement video in link) and it revolves around some of the characters and memorable quotes from them. So let’s see who and what they are.

My TBR:

Dean: Fence vol 3

Sam: Clockwork Angel

Cas: Splintered

Bobby: Unhinged

Crowley: Daughter Of Smoke and Bone

Lucifer: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Charlie: Of Fire and Stars

Jody: Obsidio

Rowena: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Death: Allegiant

Recent finishes and Newts update

Hey everyone! I have finished 3 books so far this month. I planned on doing full reviews, but thought it would be easier on myself to just do mini ones. So here we go!

Read this for A in Astronomy 🔭 (Moon in title or on cover) This was an ARC I received from Netgalley, and it was so good. Definitely getting a finished copy.

Read this for A in Herbology (Listen to an audiobook). This book played with my emotions big time. I am definitely continuing on with the series.

Read this for A in Arithmancy (Ends on an even page number) Why have I waited so long to read this?? I literally finished it in two days. This also played with my emotions and I loved it!

I have given each book 4 stars. Still looking for that 5 star book. I am currently reading Beautiful Creatures and Of Fire and Stars, so one of these might be a 5 star read.

N. E. W. T.s Magical Readathon TBR

It’s N. E. W. T.s time people!! If you don’t know what this is, it is a continuation from the O. W. L.s that happened in April. Both are based on the wizarding tests taken at Hogwarts (O. W. L.s in 5th year, N. E. W. T.s in 7th year). These are taken to determine your wizarding career. The amazing creator of the magical readathon is G at Book Roast. Here is where you can find the information for this round which starts in August.

During the O. W. L.s, I chose the career of Potioneer (because to know me is to know I love Snape). So that meant I had to complete the prompts (or exams) for Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology, and Potions. However, I decided to go for all 12 classes and completed all but Astronomy. Therefore, for N. E. W. T.s, I can read for all subjects except Astronomy since I didn’t pass it. If this is confusing, G explains it way better lol I’ll just get right into the books I’m planning on reading (all 33 since I’m aiming to complete all that I can)

Priority TBR for Potioneer

First exam I need is Potions and I need an Outstanding, meaning I need to read three books. The prompts are:

A- Polyjuice Potion: Read your friend’s favorite book

E- House Ingredient: Read a book in your house color (I’m a proud Slytherin 💚🐍)

O- Book that starts with a Prologue

Next is an E in Herbology so I have to read two books

O- Grab onto Fawkes tail! Read a book with a bird on the cover (EC)

And lastly, I need to get an A in Arithmancy

A- Book that ends on an even page number

O- Book that is longer than 350 pages (EC)

All extra books I will try to accomplish

Disneyathon TBR

Hello there. Back again with another TBR for yet another readathon. Apparently I love readathons smh. Anywho, I have decided to participate in Disneyathon!

You can either take a quiz and see what team you are in, or you can just choose which team bests suits you. I took the quiz and I am on Team Aladdin 💜 my team leader is none of then Izzy from Iz Currently Reading who is also the creator of this whole month long readathon.

  • The official group map

  • Now for my TBR:
  • Jasmine: Read a book the features royalty
  • Aladdin: Read a book that contains romance
  • The Magic Carpet: Read a Fantasy book
  • Jafar: Read a book that will suck you into it’s world, as if in a trance- this book must only be read at night
  • Abu: Read the group book (different for every team)
  • Readathons Galore

Hey everyone! July is going to be a busy reading month for me (on top of it being my birthday month)! I have decided to participate in 4 readathons during the month. They are: The Book Junkie Trials, The Iron Tome A Thon, DND Readathon, and Medieval-A-Thon. They are all month long readathons, so it should be doable. Plus I’ve decided to use the same books so I wouldn’t stress.

The Book Junkie Trials is a quest styled readathon with 4 teams competing: Scribe, Magi, Outlaw, and Bard. You take the personality test that will determine which team you are on. You can also choose to just select your own team based on which quest you believe you can accomplish. I have linked the twitter page for the readathon so you can find all the info since I know I’m not explaining this well lol. I am on team Scribe, so this is what my TBR looks like for the our quest: Dwarf Mount- read a book with a hint of romance so I chose Quests for Glory by Soman Chainani; Apothecary Towers- choose a book at random from your shelf so my brother chose The Road to Woodbury by Robert Kirkman; The Great Library- read a book that has been on your TBR forever so I chose The Giver by Lois Lowry; The Drowning Deep- read a book with rich world-building so I chose The Two Towers by J. R. R. Tolkien; and finally The Bookie Grail- read the group book which is Stardust by Neil Gaiman. We can also do other challenges after we finish our team quests, so I do have books picked for those but that’s going to be as I go.

The Iron Tome A Thon is just like it sounds. It is a Game of Thrones inspired readathon where you read only adult fantasy. I have the blog post linked if you want to get the full breakdown and prompts. The group book that was chosen is The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang. I have sort of wanted to read this, but was kind of intimidated by it due to the content. However, I managed to fit it into 4 of the 7 challenges. The other three I managed to fit A Game of Thrones into. Two books for seven challenges?? Go me!

The DND Readathon is based, of course, on Dungeons and Dragons. This round, we are tasked with picking the race of our character. I’m going for Half-Orc. The three challenges I have to complete are: read a book not in pristine edition (going with The Two Towers), read a book with a morally grey protagonist (chose And I Darken by Kiersten White), and read a book over 500 pages so I chose Quests for Glory.

Last but certainly not least, Medieval-A-Thon is a readathon where the more books you read, the higher you move up in the court. The max is 6 to become a king/queen, but if you can read more that is great as well. There are also side quests where you can build a suit of armor as well as grab a weapon (or more than one if you choose). This are not mandatory, but of course i’m going to try. I have some of my books picked out for these prompts, but of course that might change before July 1st (my birthday!)

So, these are all the readathons I am taking part in during the month of July. I hope to accomplish all that I set out to do. My reading has kind of slowed down during May and June, so I’m hoping to pick it back up next month. If you are taking part in any (or all) of these, comment and let me know! I’m always open to meet and make more bookish friends.
