Hey everyone! I’m back with another First Line Fridays, hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author, or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first!
I didn’t know how long I had been in the king’s prison. The days were all the same, except that as each one passed, I was dirtier than before.
This book is….
Gen can steal anything- at least that’s the boast he’s made in wineshops across the capital city, and his bragging has landed him in the kings prison. His chances of escape look slim- even for someone of his talents. When he is invited to join a quest to steal an object straight out of a legend, he’s hardly in a position to refuse.
