Hey everyone! Today I’m coming to you with another First Line Friday. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author, or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first!
Sophie had waited all her life to be kidnapped. But tonight, all the other children of Galvadon writhed in their beds. If the School Master took them, they’d never return.

This is such a cool idea! It made me pick up the book I was reading and reread the first few lines to see if they were as interesting as yours. They were more intriguing than I expected!

I really like doing these! Plus it gets me excited to read that book because that line catches me and I want to continue and see where it goes.
